YOUR ORGANIZATION HERE!
Oto Fire & Rescue Department
Oto Ambulance Service

The Oto Fire & Rescue works closely with the Oto Ambulance Service as well as neighboring towns when called for fires and accidents. Besides having their own fire and rescue zone area, they are always willing to help. There are 15 active members with the fire & rescue department at this time and for a town the size of Oto, that is really great.

The Oto Ambulance Service is a separate organization that deals mainly with the sick and injured community. They also work very closely with not only the Oto Fire & Rescue, but also respond to any sick or injured parties in neighboring communities that do not have an ambulance service that is available to take a call.

The Oto community and the surrounding area can be proud of the dedication of all the local and area VOLUNTEERS belonging to both of these caring organizations.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR DEDICATION IN SERVING YOUR COMMUNITY!

CHURCHES
Oto has two active churches within the community. Those being the UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST and ST. MARY'S CATHOLIC CHURCH.

United Church of Christ - Sunday at 9:00 AM
St. Mary's Catholic Church - Sunday at 8:00 AM

GENERAL AREA INFORMATION

Oto is 4 miles north of State Highway #141 from Smithland, Iowa. State Highway #31 goes through the town of Oto. Oto is located in Woodbury County, and is approximately 7 miles south of Anthon, Iowa. Because of its location to the Loess Hills, and the beautiful scenic roads that run through the hills and valleys in the area, Oto can boast of the "Smoky Hollow Loop Scenic Byway" which is a beautiful drive any time of year.

There are several county owned parks and hunting areas open to the public as well as good fishing spots on farm ponds and county parks in the area as well. Oto, just like Anthon, sets along the west bank of the Little Sioux River. The area brings hunters as well as those who like to fish, camp, and partake in other outdoor activities any time of the year. Trapping by area residents is a popular outdoor sport as well. There are those from out of state who come back to this area year after year to enjoy not only good hunting, fishing, and camping, but to visit with the many friends they have made in the area.

Wild game in the area does include many species, some of which are white-tail deer, coyote, fox, opossum, skunk, rabbit, groundhog, muskrat, beaver, mink, racoon, weasel, pheasants, quail, turkey, several species of ducks, geese, a few herons, hawks, crow, pigeon, and owls, just to name a few. An occasional bald eagle can also be seen in the summer months as well as the vultures.

Whether you are from the Oto, or Anthon area, or just thinking about a nice weekend drive, or get-a-way day, drive through this beautiful area of Northwest Iowa. You will not be disappointed in the scenery, or the friendly people in this area.

As PATRONS, we hope that you enjoy your visit to the web site and when you are in the area, stop in and say HI!
