Ruth (Wood) Groth, City Clerk for Anthon, Iowa for the past 18 years and deputy clerk before that for 6 years has recently received the Master Municipal Clerk designation through the IIMC Master Municipal Clerk Academy Program. Anthon's Master Municipal Clerk, Ruth GrothRuth is one of only 16 other municipal clerks in the WHOLE STATE of Iowa who have ever achieved this hard earned destinction.
Ruth has worked hard for the past 18 years to achieve this goal. Only a handful ever reach this status. She achieved IIMC's Certified Municipal Clerk status in December of 1989 and entered the Master Municipal Clerk Academy in June of 1993.Since her inception in to the academy she has completed IIMC-approved academy programs and seminars conducted by the Dept. of Science and Technology, University Extension, Iowa State University, and other educational programs relating to local government.
To date; about 15% of the International Institute of Municipal Clerks' 10,300 members have even qualified for the academy status. Ruth has received congratulatory messages from all over the world since her designation as a Master Municipal Clerk. Those in the Municipal Clerk's Academy Program world wide know and understand that not too many ever achieve the status of Master Municipal Clerk. Way to go! (2004)

The Anthon Rescue Squad is an all VOLUNTEER group of citizens from Anthon and the surrounding area. Anthon is one of the best trained, well-equipped rescue squads in Woodbury County. We are very fortunate to have a community that supports the continuing education and training it takes for each volunteer to meet all the state and federal standards and regulations. Without the dedication of their families, and their own love for neighbors and friends, this community would be at a huge disadvantage.
A huge THANK YOU goes out to ALL the volunteers who have served in the past, and those who currently serve on the rescue squad.
