Beverly Ann (Ashley) Hueser ,almost 77, was born on April 22, 1933 in Anthon, IA. She was one of eight children born to Marvin and Dorothy (Court) Ashley. She passed away on April 19, 2010 at the Hubbard, Iowa Care Center.
Bev attended Wolf Creek #5 Rural School, Anthon High School, where she was Valedictorian and Homecoming Queen, and Wayne State College in Wayne, NE, where she received a two year teaching certificate.
On July 23, 1954,
Beverly was united in marriage to Lester Hueser at the Methodist Church in Anthon. Bev taught grade school for one year at Moville, IA. She sold Avon for over 35 years and was a homemaker for most of her life.
Bev was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church where she had been a choir director and member, taught Sunday school, Bible school and was the first woman to serve as trustee. She was a past president of the UMW and of the American Legion Auxiliary and member for 40 years. She was publicity chairman for the Hubbard Centennial, Girl Scout Leader, Cub Scout Den Mother, Hardin County Fair Art Superintendent, Co-chairperson of the Hubbard Swimming Pool Renovation and in charge of the Hubbard Community garage sales and craft shows.
Bev enjoyed many hobbies including singing, cake decorating, ceramics, oil painting, sewing, Bridge Club, playing the accordion, bird watching, camping trips and Monday morning coffee groups. She was Les'number one sports fan and critic. Her pride and joy were her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Lester; daughters Cindy (Gene) Grimmius of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, Terri Larson of Hubbard, and Mary Lynn Baum (fiancé Rick Miller) of Marshalltown; son Rick (Jennifer) Hueser of Bozeman, MT; grandchildren Kendra, Kami, Joelle, Dustin, Alexa, Leah, McKenna, and Jack; great-granddaughter Myah; sisters Jean (Richard) Petersen, Joyce (Cal) Gothier and Sheryl Ashley of Anthon, brothers Bill
(Betty) Ashley of Mapleton, Charles (Diane) Ashley of Moville, Art (Dee) Ashley of Sioux City, and sister-in-law Connie Ashley of Merrill; along with many other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Marvin and Dorothy Ashley and her brother Edward Ashley.
Dewain M. Zeglin 78, of Sheridan, Wyoming passed away on Thursday, June 10, 2010 in his Sheridan home. Dewain was born June 22, 1931 on the family farm near Anthon, Iowa to Fred and Ruby (Fixsel) Zeglin. Fred grew up on the farm, attended country school and graduated from high school in Anthon, Iowa. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where after basic training he went to weather school and then served in Japan during the Korean War. He returned to Anthon to work the farm after the service. Dewain married Diane Newman in 1955. They later divorced. He went to work for the U.S. Weather Service in Huron, South Dakota and later transferred to Sheridan in 1964. Dewain married Shirley Hall on December 28, 1971. He worked for the weather service until he retired in 1993. After retirement, he worked part time as a weather spotter. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Elks Lodge #520. Dewain enjoyed going to his cabin, fishing, hunting and spending time with family and friends.
Dewain was preceded in death by his parents, and is survived by his wife Shirley; sons Fred and Colleen Zeglin of Kalispell, Montana, Greg Hall and wife Michelle of Vail, Colorado and Lonn Hall of Sparks, Nevada; daughters Pam Rapp and husband Bill of Sheridan, and Teresa Hall and husband Doug Rager of Snowmass, Colorado; sister JoAnn Bengford and husband Scott of Fort Collins, Colorado; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Memorial services were held on Saturday June 19, 2010 in Sheridan with burial in the Sheridan Elks Cemetery with Elks Lodge officers officiating and military rites by the Wyoming National Guard and American Legion. Arrangements were with Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Memorials may benefit First United Methodist Church.
