Stahl Park (Ballpark) ~ Est. 1932
George Stahl
Located alongside the Little Sioux River, is Stahl Park, or commonly known as the “ball park”. The land for this park was donated by George Stahl who was then a merchant in town. The large grandstand that was built has since been torn down and replaced with aluminum bleachers. In the 1990’s, a concession stand and equipment shed were built. Many volunteers have worked throughout the years to maintain this area so that Little League baseball, softball, flag football, and soccer teams can enjoy spring, summer, and fall sports.
In 1959 a shelter house was constructed. The idea for this came from a group of former Lion’s Club members. A sand volleyball court was added and it sits to the east of the shelter house. In 1995 a King Kong Castle Climber (donated by MCI) was erected with a slide, a couple of swings, a tire swing, and a fort platform. Set in the shade of the trees are picnic tables and small grills.
In 2014, many improvements were made, including a new roof, new windows and siding. The interior has been completely overhauled, and is now air conditioned and heated, and has a kitchen area and bathrooms in the facility.
To book the shelter house, call City Hall @ 373-5218.

His home sat across the street.

Now days, little ones can enjoy hours of entertainment as they play on one of the two sets of swings, a King Kong Castle Climber (donated by MCI in 1995) that has a tire swing, a slide, a fort platform. There is also a rocking horse, a merry-go round, two sets of monkey bars, a small field for a game of baseball or softball, many picnic tables and benches, and even small grills for cooking.
